California Cleantech Leadership Council

California Cleantech Leadership Council

The California Cleantech Leadership Council was formed in 2010 in response to the need for a centralized voice for California’s cleantech sector. In California, organizations such as CleanTECH San Diego,  Clean Tech Los Angeles, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, and Greenwise Joint Venture have been established for developing regional policy analysis, communications and outreach, business incubators, grants, and other services to strengthen their respective cleantech industries. The Green Technology Leadership Group was formed to organize and promote the regional diversity of California’s cleantech sector.

The Council works to educate state policymakers on cleantech opportunities throughout the state of California, to advocate for policies and funding to bolster the cleantech sector, and to share information across regions about the important work going on in each region. The Council represents over 3,000 cleantech companies statewide and is unique from other trade associations or nonprofits as it is a horizontal, cooperative council with each member having equal standing, rather than driven by one organization, region, or non-industry based organization. The members of the Council are independent entities that are a mixture of federally designated 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) organizations including:

  • Bay Area Council
  • Clean Tech Los Angeles
  • CleanTech OC
  • CleanTECH San Diego
  • Greenwise Joint Venture
  • Innovation Center for Green Advanced Transportation Excellence (iGate)
  • Silicon Valley Leadership Group
